European Champion Clubs Cup

The “European Champion Clubs Cup” (ECCC) is a major sporting event featuring 26 teams—12 in the men’s category and 14 in the women’s category—competing as the National Champions of their respective countries.

The European Cup is always held in the spring, typically during the last weekend of May. As these are early dates in the athletic calendar, performance marks can sometimes be affected; however, for many athletes, it represents the first high-level competition of the season. The event has only been cancelled once, in 2017. On that occasion, the Cup had been awarded to the Turkish city of Mersin, but the political and social situation near the Syrian border led the participating clubs to decline travel, prompting the European Association to cancel the edition.

Castelló and the Gaeta Huguet

facilities will serve as the venue where the top clubs from across the continent will vye for the European title. Playas de Castellón will act as the host club, with its men’s team contending strongly for the championship.

In total, approximately 450 athletes will gather in Castellón to participate in the 20 scheduled events for each category. The European Cup will take place on May 23rd and 24th, offering athletics fans a unique opportunity to see the continent’s elite athletes up close.

Information Desks

The Information Desks will be located in the lobby of Hotels with qualified personnel offering relevant information about all aspects of the European Champion Clubs Cup Track & Field Senior Group A.

The Information Desks opening hours will be as follows, from 23 to 25 May:

  • Thursday 21 May 08:00-22:00 (depending on arrivals)
  • Friday 22 May 08:00-22:00 (depending on arrivals)
  • Saturday 23 May 08:00-22:00
  • Sunday 24 May 08:00-22:00 
  • Monday 25 May 08:00-12:00 (depending on departures).

Cost and quota

We remind information sent on previous information letter about Accommodation costs According to Regulation 1410.1 the organising club undertakes to cover accommodation and full board costs of each participating team (except the host) for one (1) night more than days of competition.

The maximum number of quota team members to be covered per participating team (except host) is 22 athletes and 4 officials.

According to Regulation 1410.6.1, the following contribution must be paid to the organising club by each participating club team (except host):

– Registration fee: EUR 1000, – which must be paid at the latest by the date of the closing of the preliminary entries.

– Accommodation support: EUR 2500, – to be paid latest upon arrival to the venue.

The following rates must be paid by the teams for “out of quota” team members and additional days:

  • All prices include meals and VAT.
  • The out-of-quota meals will be charging 25€ per meal.
  • All Clubs will be accommodated at hotels located on Castellon city or Benicasin city
  • which is around 15km far from Castellón

The official arrival and departure airports are Castellón and Valencia (Spain) The Registration fee and Accommodation Support must be paid to the organiser by each participating club team to following account:

Any participating club team, not paid the registration fee by the date specified above, shall be liable to pay the registration fee increased by 25%.

Entries

Preliminary Entries

No later than 3 (three) months before the first day of the ECCC Track & Field Senior, each member federation shall send to European Athletics the preliminary number of athletes and accompanying officials, together with their travel details and accommodation requests.

Each participating team must pay a registration fee of EUR 1000, to be paid at the latest by the date of the closing of the preliminary entries

Final Entries

Not later than 10 (ten) days (14:00 CET) before the first day of the ECCC Track & Field Seniors, each Member Federation shall send to the European Clubs Foundation a final list of its athletes, plus the names of accompanying officials. Final Entry information shall be supplied in the manner prescribed by European Clubs Foundation and shall include such details as required by European Clubs Foundation, including the names and best performances of each athlete.

Deadline for the Final Entries:                            13 May 14.00 CET

Final Confirmation

Team Leaders or their representatives must confirm the names of those competitors already entered who will actually take part in the competition.

In case of late injuries, replacement of initially entered athletes will be allowed until the final confirmation deadline. However, no additional athletes will be accepted, but substitutes by an athlete who is on the list of eligible athletes provided by the respective clubs only.

Forms for the final declaration and confirmation will be sent in advance to late arriving teams by email and distributed to each delegation during accreditation. The forms must be completed and returned immediately or no later than Friday 22 May at 16:00, at the TIC/Hotels´ Information Desks. Any club foreseeing to arrive later than this deadline shall confirm the respective team’s participation via email to joseluis.decarlos@european-athletics.org

Maximum 2 athletes per team will be allowed to compete in 100m Extra races. Entries must be delivered during accreditation, together with Final Confirmations, until 22 May at 16:00, at the TIC/Hotels´ Information Desks.

The final relay team and the running order must be submitted to the TIC using the respective form no later than one hour before the published first call time of the event

Withdrawal

Withdrawal of any confirmed athlete must be indicated to the TIC at the Stadium in writing on the official withdrawal form.

Travel

The official airports of the event are Castellón Airport (around 25 km from the city of Castellón) as well Manises/Valencia Airport (about 90 km from the city of Castellón).

Upon arrival to the airport, the teams will be met by the LOC staff.

Payments procedures

All payments must be made in Euros (€), by credit card or by bank transfer.

An invoice will be sent in advance to each club detailing the amount they owe based on their final entries. Advance payments should be made in euros by bank transfer to the following account:

Note: A copy of the bank transfer will be required upon arrival.

The team leader must settle any extra charges (bar, laundry, telephone etc.) at the hotel reception desk, before departure. The team leader will be requested to provide a credit card at the time of checking in at the reception desk to cover any extras or eventual caused damage by the team.

Venue

The Competition venue is Complejo Deportivo Gaetà Huguet. (Playas de Castellón, Club Atletismo – Google Maps)

There are 2800 of seats in the stadium.

The stadium has the following competition sites:

  • 8 lanes,

  • 1 High Jump site

  • 2 Pole Vault sites

  • 1 site for Long/Triple Jump

  • 2 Shot Put Circles

  • 1 Combined Discus/Hammer Circle,

  • 2 Javelin sites

The Warm up area has the following sites:

  • 6 lanes on the straight (indoor)

  • 500m artificial grass,

  • A weightlifting room.

  • There are no separate throwing or jumping warm up areas.
